Because the landscape presents itself as so
literal, and so familiar, it serves readily as foil.
The horizon is the beginning of a grid….a matrix. The matrix
is the beginning of a nest, a womb, a problem with a possible
solution, a new world. Similarly, a vertical in front of a horizon
can be cancellation, a cross, a memorial to the familiar, a streak
of the unfamiliar.
